The main mission of the Kakara hydroelectric development is to generate electricity. The normal water level of the power station reservoir is 42 meters, with a minimum operating level of 37 meters. The nominal head height is 34 meters, and the installed capacity of the power station is 70 MW (35 MW×2). The utilization hours amount to 4180 hours, and the average annual electricity production capacity is 3.01 billion GWh. The electricity production efficiency is excellent.
The power station is equipped with 2 Kaplan axial turbo-alternators, each with a capacity of 35 MW. The diameter of the turbo-alternator wheel reaches 3.8 meters, with a nominal unit speed of 187.5 rpm. The nominal water head height is 34 meters, the nominal flow rate is 121.5 m³/s, and the suction head is 11 meters. The nominal capacity of the turbo-alternator is 45 MVA/35 MW, with a power factor of 0.8. Two main oil-immersed three-phase power transformers are installed inside, each with a capacity of 50 MVA. The 252 kV GIS bus connections apply the indoor layout model. The current power station is connected to the 225 kV coupling station in Boffa with a voltage of the first level being 225 kV.
